SHEAR MADNESS by Paul Portner
Opening June 4th, 2010; Discount Previews June 2nd and 3rd.
Don’t miss “America’s Favorite Comedy” and the longest-running play in the history of American theatre. It’s the uproarously funny whodunit where the audience gets to solve the crime. A combination of comedy, mystery and improvisation, Shear Madness incorporates current events, celebrities and gossip into the script, keeping it local and constantly fresh.
Living above the Shear Madness hair salon can be murder. It is for concert pianist Isabel Czerny. But the question remains, “whodunit?” Was it her friend, Barbara DeMarco, the hairstylist extraordinaire? Was it Tony Whitcomb, the salon’s irrepressible proprietor? What about Eddie Lawrence, the charming mystery man? It certainly couldn’t be Mrs. Shubert, the town’s prim and proper socialite. Or could it? You decide. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION! The detectives will soon be around, and they need you, to help solve the crime. The information provided by the audience will influence the outcome of this award-winning comedy.

CLOSING WEEKEND!

Play It Again, Sam by Woody Allen. Directed by Ellen Fratino
May 13th –June 5th
Thursdays thru Saturdays, 8:00pm
Join the Acrosstown Repertory Theatre for a play about dating and relationships from the mind of Woody Allen. Allan Felix has this thing about Humphrey Bogart. If only he had some of Bogart’s technique… Bookish and insecure with women, Allan’s hero, Bogey comes to the rescue, with a fantastic bevy of beauties played out in hilarious fantasy sequences. Fixed up by friends with gorgeous women, he’s so awkward that even Bogey’s patience is tried. Allan mostly resembles a disheveled, friendly dog and this is what ultimately charms his best friend’s wife, Linda into bed. It’s a tough life, making it in the world of beautiful people but if you can’t be a hero it helps to have one.
